News

The American Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform Extraordinary acts in emergency situations.  We Train.  We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand.  Whether it is a hurricane or a heart attack; a call for blood or a call for help, the American Red Cross is there.

Last year in our community, because of people like you we were able to:

Ø  Assist 28 families who suffered the devastating effects of the loss of their homes to house-fires with immediate, emergency needs such as shelter, food, clothing, and counseling.  Our school-aged citizens learn what to do and how to prepare themselves in an emergency situation. Grade, K – 12, Red Cross mitigation is part of the curriculum as well as CPR and First Aid in 6th and 7th grades

Ø  Connect  more than 30 families with loved  ones serving our country to protect our freedom, we have a worldwide network that reaches service members wherever they are serving to communicate a birth, death or illness

Ø  Collect more than 1400 units of lifesaving blood at some 60 local bloodmobiles held here in Halifax and Charlotte Counties

Ø  Teach lifesaving skills in CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and Lifeguarding to over 1500 individuals

Together, we can transform a life in crisis into a life of hope.

The local Red Cross Chapter located in the Mary Bethune Complex in Halifax serves both Halifax and Charlotte County with its humanitarian services and may be reached at 434-476-5148 or 866-242-8757.

This site is proudly designed and maintained free of charge as a donation by SDCFM Technologies in Recognition of the invaluable service The Red Cross provides to the community and the world.
